Sole Savior

The rubber sole of my father’s shoe cracks beneath the toe in a horizontal line, slowly splitting away and peeling itself back towards Nature.  It brings to mind photographs of dried salt flats in the desert.  The land splits apart in hexagonal formations and the Earth’s crust opens up; the hexagons fit together like puzzle pieces [...]
